Start with Scripture
A prophetic impression should not ask you to disobey the clear teaching and character of Scripture. Scripture is not an optional extra used only when a word feels uncertain. It is part of the basic framework for discernment.
Notice the fruit
Ask what the word produces. Does it draw you toward Christ, truth, repentance, courage, love and wise action? Or does it create fear, manipulation, dependency or frantic pressure? Not every challenging word is wrong, but spiritual pressure is not the same as the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
Pray about it
You do not have to react immediately. Bring the word before God. Ask for clarity, confirmation and wisdom. If you are unsure, you are allowed to put it down for a while rather than forcing an interpretation.
Use wise counsel
For important decisions, speak with mature believers who know you and are not emotionally invested in a particular outcome. Where the issue is medical, legal, financial or related to personal safety, use appropriate professional advice as well.
Allow time
Some words become clearer later. Do not manufacture fulfilment. You do not have to make something happen so that a prophecy can appear correct. Faithfulness is more important than forcing a timetable.
If you are preparing to request personal prophecy, read healthy expectations when requesting prophecy first. If you already feel you need a prophetic word, receiving and weighing personal prophecy explains how to keep discernment and freedom at the center.
If individual encouragement would help, you can learn about requesting a personal word, or use the free prayer request route. A prophetic word should always be weighed through Scripture, prayer and wise counsel.
